New forum area with common problems organized by feature

Proposal:

Make a new forum area with sub areas for each feature. This way, if we have a problem with a particular feature, we can look there for hints.

For example, I am having trouble running a loft between two sketches. The manual is sketchy (sorry) about requirements. It would be great to see the problems that others have solved already, and one could learn quite a bit from these tips.

If one thinks about it, clearly it's not the same as doing a search of general use posts, and is more immediate than posting a question to the forum.

The problem is that these forums really aren't set up for a database type search function. For example, will the general discussion and using AD forums loose traffic because members will gravitate towards feature specific? Do the feature specific problems go unanswered because the power-users don't read those forums?

There is periodic comment about creating a tips-n-tricks forum, but who moderates it? Who adds content? Who verifies the content? Who tests the content to make sure it is still credible/worth while after every AD release?

Do you start to see the problem, or at least difficulty, in maintaining such a forum?

Now, that's not to say that it isn't a good idea. If it wasn't, so many people wouldn't be thinking about having it.

To resolve this issue, Alibre has implemented two solutions. The direct solution is the knowledge base on the support sight.

The second, less direct solution, is to expand the newsletter to include such relavant tips.

Thanks for the idea. Keep them coming. If you have some tips in mind, perhaps you can work on getting them added to the knowledge base.

I reluctantly agree with your point.

As an example, the Alibre knowledge base that your link points to has dead links.

Oh well.

Thanks for your insight.
