Opening sample files or importing step files

TWIMC (to whom it may concern),

When I open an Alibre sample file (Solenoid Valve Assembly), or import a step solid, only some surfaces show, but I can't see the entire part or even whole parts within an assembly. Most surfaces remain invisible unless I move my cursor over the part. And then, I would only see wireframe, even in shaded view.

Are there some settings I need to change?

This is almost always a video card driver problem - what video card are you running? You can run DXDIAG from the command line to see what drivers you are currrently using. Then, go to your video card mfg website and get the latest drivers.
