What's new

Part has become a SAT file.

Here's a weird one.. opened this assembly this morning and I want to modify the flange with all the ports on it. I constructed it using a few Boolean ops.

I 'edit in new window' from the top level assembly top.png SAT.png and I'm surprised to find it's listed as an imported SAT file and in a strange location.

Now, I certainly didn't intend to export it as a SAT and I'm sure I didn't. I would have saved the top level assembly on which it is used as I usually do.

I'm struggling to see quite how I've done this - it doesn't make any sense.

Was that created from an ASSEMBLY Boolean, rather than a PART Boolean ? That's the way Assembly Booleans have always worked.

Assembly Boolean is a one off process that doesn't remain associative (it produces a 'dumb solid'), Part Boolean remains linked to the files that made it up - changes in those files will pass through to the Boolean.
