png Save question

Hi everyone,
when I open an imported file (e.g. Part1.step) with alibre it is saved with automatic filling of the save bar as Part1.AD_PRT.
When I open a file (Fig1.png) or (Fig1.jpg)
this is automatically saved as Fig1.png.AD_DRW or Fig1.jpg.AD_DRW and asks me if I want to overwrite the original file even if in reality it does nothing except save with the name written above.
Is this normal behavior or is there a logical explanation for this?

What are you opening images with Alibre Design for? Tracing or something?

I sometimes open screens of parts (png) and for convenience I open them in Alibre and then attach them to the 3D work folder.

Sounds like something unintended but only an Alibre developer could explain.
