Reference lines gone

Okay, something weird happened the other day. You know how when you click to outline an area or draw a box, for example? You know how those little reference lines outlining your box or rectangle come up? Well, now they don't. They simply stopped working. Any idea on how to turn them back on? I suspect there's something on the properties or preferences that somehow got changed, but I can't figure out how to change it back.

Check your View selections -- Alt>View -- to bring up the menu, or the Viewing and Analysis tab of the ribbon. You may have turned off one or more of the options.
