Revolveing an shape around an ellipse

Sorry if this is a dumb question! I have searched ...

I need to revolve a shape around an ellipse.

Revolve Boss is not right is round

Sweep boss complains "SWEEP_SELF_INT: The sweep results in self-intersecting surface"

See pic this was done with Revolve boss but I need an ellipse

Hi Tim,

If you want it solid to the centre, use Sweep Cut on a elliptical blank, or use Sweep Boss and fill in the centre section afterwards with an Extrude Boss.

Thanks I can now make the Cut boss work but not the Sweep Cut work but not the Sweep boss with or with out holes.

I'm happy now that I can make the part but still curious how to do an addition type build rather than a subtraction
