Sketched bends in sheetmetal

Hi, Is there a way of getting the enclosed to work. What I want is to bend the 'C' shaped bit up, and leave the bit in the middle behind, so in effect there are 2 sketched bends.
When I can get it to bend as I want, the second bend becomes a cut. Is it possible to do in one fold, or do I have to 'knife & fork' it but constructing the missing material & putting in the bend relief?
Thanks, Mark

Hi Lamar,
Neither I'm afraid! I want it to be like this;
I have added features 7 & 8 to mimic the sheetmetal bend & reliefs of the other bend, but obviously it wont flatten now.
Maybe it would have been better to construct the part as a solid & then convert to SM?

Thanks Ralf & Lemar, you have made me look at it from a different perspective - but both ways a bit messy I think!
My solution was to simply put in an extra flange where the unwanted cut appeared. The cut needed opening up by a gauge, but thats it, mission accomplished - cheers.

(I wish I could just 'like' a thread...)

Mark, Lamar & Ralf-

Thanks for sharing this interesting little problem. It will surely come in handy one day!

I knew someone else would eventually get tripped up by this like I did.
Here's a link to my post
A careful examination of the image in the "What's New" shows that the sketched bend does have an issue in that the resulting part is not what would be expected from the given sketch.

I did turn in a ticket to support and after giving a few examples to show the "error" I got this reply:
Hello Harold,
The sketch bent tool was created to allow users another way of creating parts.
I have filed your improvement under the tag:
GD-1370
I will let you know if any developments occur.

Thank you,
Chris S

I've uploaded my solution to the problem, which is a technique that was developed by someone here on the forum a long time ago when sheet metal was first introduced to Alibre.
