Synchronizing assembly

I have an assembly of multiple parts. Now I edited a part on its own. Since, it doesn't want to be synchronized from the assembly anymore ... The regenerate button is there, in the assembly window, but doesn't load the content of the actual part anymore. I can select the part in the (assembly) explorer, select edit in separate window, and it loads the original version, not the new one.

If you edit a part outside the assembly, the only way the assembly will know about your changes is to close the assembly and re-open it. In your case, it doesn't open the original version, it merely opens the part it originally loaded when you first opened the assembly. If you want to edit parts in a live open assembly, always use 'Edit in separate window' or 'edit here', then the assembly knows what you are changing and will update accordingly when you close the part.
