Where used in BOM request

I have a request for a script. Please could someone create a script (I'm assume this can be achieved through script) that adds a column to a BOM that denotes in which assembly/assemblies a part is used.

Not sure that I 'm clear about what is wanted.

A BOM is for a particular assembly, are you looking for information about which sub-assemblies of the main assembly each part is used in, or something else?

Which assemblies use a particular part.

It may be used within the assembly from which the BOM is generated, and used within sub assemblies of that assembly.

By providing a part name and configuration name a list is produced that denotes the assemblies that use that part in that configuration.

Note that a part does not 'know' where it is used, only assemblies 'know' which parts they contain.

A database or PDM system can potentially show 'used by/in'.

What you seek may be possible via script, perhaps an iterative approach for each part, and check all sub-assemblies for the part. Beyond my limited script skills. I just wanted to get a clearer definition of what you want.
