I had to make WAG on the base for this one. The 2D drawing did not have a section view for it, only the upper portion had a section that I could detail from.
You did quite well. It looks exactly as a good follow rest should.
That's a tool used less frequently in turning, but indispensable when needed for long, small diameter stock.
It attaches the the lathe saddle, so that as the cutting tool moves, the follow rest tracks alongside the cutter and supports the part. Very useful for turning the ouside diameter of rifle barrels. A long, slender part supported at each end tends to flex and vibrate while cutting near the middle, unless the follow rest is there providing support.
