In windows explorer when i RMC on an assembly and select constituents the is a number in brackets [29]

what does that mean?

That would/could be the number of components in the assembly. Expand all items in the window then count them to see if the numbers match.

no, i expanded and that's not it. i thought it might be how many times that part is used in other assemblies and then I could right click on it and have a list of all assemblies that have that part in them.;););)

I've done a quick test...
had an assembly with a part numbered with <5> in constituents
edited it, saved the assembly
called constituents again and this part got numbered with <6>...

So… did you ADD a part to the Assembly, or does that number represent the number of times the Assembly was EDITED?
