It is not obvious to me why the Alibre designers chose to not allow a reference line to be used as a revolve axis. And if there is some reason or unintended consequence, then wonder what it is?

Seems to me that the system should allow a revolve around any (line) in design space be it a reference line or an axis. If that can't be done (changed), then a function to convert a reference line to an axis would be helpful.

Hi Dan -- I believe that the thesis is that an Axis should be defined about which Revolution should occur. -- Lew

It exists. Sketch -> Insert -> Axis

BTW - To be more in line with the Topic, the fact is that there are Design Dimensions and Manufacturing Dimensions and the two are often not identical. -- Lew

Absolutely, Centered is, for the most part, a Design Concept and not a Manufacturing Concept (except in QA Verification Tooling). Symmetric is another Design Concept. Etc. -- Lew
