Extrude to Next not working

I am trying to extrude to a part in an assembly, is that not possible or am I missing something? I'm trying to get the NPT boss to extrude to next but can only get it to extrude to geometry.

When uploading an assembly you need to create a package file. That will pull all the parts of the assembly into one file for uploading or sharing.
File>Package>Create

Yeah, that's it, if I followed it correctly, it can't be done in an assembly of existing parts.

Yes, I’m still working on a solution for a structural steel part library of dynamic members. I model everything in a part then export pieces as parts and add them to an assembly as a workaround.
