Sweep Along an Edge

I seem to remeber a tutorial for easily creating a sweep along an edge similar to the attached. I don't remenber how to eliminate the shape and keep the tube. Does anyone know how to do this?

If you have a high enough version, use Project to sketch in a 3D sketch to create the 3d path to sweep along. Do a Save As and then hide or delete the original shape.
