If you get the screen in post #15 above it will be necessary to delete the residual local licence file on the computer, the help section below explains how (though it mentions a slightly different reason to do so).
I had entered the licence key when I installed Alibre on the laptop. which was the problem, Once I released the licence and restarted Alibre the Welcome screen appeared with the viewer option.
