I seem to recall years ago that the native file format for Alibre was STEP.
If true, is it necessary to export Alibre part and assembly files as a STEP or simply pass on the native Alibre files?
I see there is an option to export STEP, just curious about the above.
Thanks!
Probably right in front of me...
Is there a way to create an indented bill of material on a drawing?
I'm on Alibre 2018, kind of waiting on installing 2019. I'm not seeing it in 2018, perhaps that is a feature of 2019?
Thanks!
Figured it out! Click on the ordinate dialog box to create a dimension, click on the baseline dimension and then select the feature you want to dimension and bingo - you have added to an existing ordinate dimension set.
Wonder how you delete an individual dimension from an ordinate...
Once you've established a set of ordinate dimensions, can you add to them - i.e. one missed tagging a dimension or added another feature or hole, then another dimension is needed, can you add to the already established set of ordinate dimensions?
Thanks!
I don't know. Solidworks has the capability (which I use in my day job) - somehow - to show you if each part/assembly is fully constrained. It is a most handy feature.
I don't calculate K-factor (working within Alibre or Solidworks). I use a table (they are all over the internet) for various metals and input that into the CAD, make a flat pattern in the CAD drawing. Maybe it's not the most precise, but I've been getting along with it for years. Don't know...
Maybe I'm looking straight at it...
Is there some visual indication an assembly's parts tree that components are fully constrained?
I know if I incorrectly mate a part, I see red, but no indication if a part is fully constrained.
On another note - while I'm typing...
Is it correct that an...
Years ago, I use to use FTP to pass files back and forth to clients when working a design.
What do you recommend for doing so now? This would be for native Alibre files, PDF's, etc.
Thanks!
Thanks for the replies - just what I was looking for.
Jog points - where you need the arrow to be bent somewhere along the leader line - like turning 90 degrees to better position the point of the arrow or when two arrow/leaders are used and one points straight at the object, but the other...
I'm probably looking right at it, but can't find...
I need to put a note on a drawing with the leader/arrow pointing in 2 or 3 locations. Is there a way to insert additional leaders on a note? Is there a way to add a jog to the leader/arrow line?
Thanks!
It was called View Orientations and had a telescoping monocular for an icon. From there, you could create a new view of any orientation of a model or assembly.
I can't find it....
I'm probably looking right at it, but can't find it. It seems like years ago, one could spin a model or assembly around and save a view of it to bring into a drawing later.
Is this possible and if so how?
Thanks!
