    Jerky movement while sketching...

You have many many other apps that work fine, but are any of the others 3D cad apps? It still may not explain the problem, but I was just wondering. But... to troubleshoot your direct problem - do you have on-board video so that you could remove the ATI card to test if that is the problem...

Pattern or Repeat for sketches or feautres - how many is ok?

I don't think there's anything you can do to fix the problem, but as a workaround (#134,421 I think), try and create that pattern as several smaller patterns. Like maybe 20 rows and 10 columns. Then create another sketch where the first one left off and pattern that again. Repeat until finished.

What are your top 3 wishes for V10?

Re: 1. Agree absolutely. 2. Not sure how that would work, as dimensions in drawings are based on part geometry, which is not necessarily the same as the sketch dimensions. Sometimes it is, but many times not. I use very few system...

31Aug2006 Beware of working ...server issues

Yes, the ARB file is a renamed zip file, as are any zap packs you may be using. As for the database, at one time it was a microsoft jet engine database. I seem to remember that they had to change it for performance reasons, but I can't remember what it was changed to, or if it was in fact...

31Aug2006 Beware of working ...server issues

I agree. The ARB is how I'm forced to work now. I don't like it, because I have some assemblies that share common parts with other assemblies, so having one repository per assembly isn't very organized. And it is not how the company wants their data structure set up. But so far, that is...

    clyinder keeping the piston inside

Re: Either that, or integration of the Assembly Engineering Manager (AEM) from D-cubed, now owned by UGS I think. It detects part collisions in real time, and can be set to stop the motion when a collision occurs. It's not perfect...

31Aug2006 Beware of working ...server issues

Re: Actually, if you want to send drawings, you need to export ONLY the drawings as step files, it will take all the parts with it, and you'll get both once its imported. When you import the drawing, once you save it, both the drawing...

31Aug2006 Beware of working ...server issues

Re: Yes, I'm aware that if you run offline they won't disappear. That doesn't help much if many of the repositories are shared to me from other people. If you're offline, you can't see them. And I know about the differences in...

Re: There is an issue with "SaveAs..." of an assembly. If you have multiple copies of any parts in the assembly, SaveAs will not work. Every part must have a unique name. It is maddening. I now have one assembly I could not save...

    detail designing of rotary dryer

That wikipedia said that those are associated with Australian suburbia. Are they really that common, or is that just a perception based on past events? I was wondering because a lot of people back in the 80's used to think that Dallas, and all of Texas for that matter, was really like the TV...

    Customizing hole sizes

That might create the correct hole notes on a drawing, but it sounded from his post that he is exporting the data to some other software that is comparing the actual geometry. As for "dummy proofing", what are the dummies working with? Is it a digital model or a 2D drawing? If it's the...

    Customizing hole sizes

Re: Customizing hole sizes In your case, where you're trying to get some other application to differentiate between hole sizes that differ only due to the hole machining method but are nominally the same size, I would just create them as actual different...

    9.1 and network file locations

Re: What I do for transferring files from home to work is just create a shapshot of the repository. I then copy it to a USB drive to take home, and then recreate that repository from the snapshot on my home computer. To keep them...

    9.1 and network file locations

Forgetting for the moment your problem (that is hopefully fixed) with using parts and assemblies from the windows file system - you have GOT to try the repository. It has some features that are still lacking, like being able to search it, but it also has some huge benefits you just don't get...

    Cannot "save as" from Repository

The problem with the saveas is especially apparent if you try to send someone an exported assembly. When they try to save, they will run into the duplicate filename problem, there is no other option besides renaming the parts with unique names. But how does putting the duplicate parts into...

    Cannot "save as" from Repository

Re: When you do a saveas, it pulls all parts of the assembly, regardless of which folder they reside in, and saves a copy of them into the target folder. There is no problem saving an assembly with multiple instances of a part in that...

    Cannot "save as" from Repository

Re: You can save assemblies with multiple copies of parts with no problems. What you cannot do is a "Save As..." of that same assembly. Hopefully they will fix that soon, saveas should behave the same as save, with pointers in the...

Is it possible to purge only some versions?

Re: Is it possible to purge only some versions? You used to be able to "pin" an older version, which would force that to be the current version, but that ability was removed loooong ago. It may have caused some other unintended consequences. But as it sounds now, nope, you...

    Part Grouping In Assemblies

Re: Part Grouping In Assemblies While all the other stuff you mentioned would be useful as well, I'd rather have the ability to promote/demote parts to and from assemblies before the grouping functionality based on metadata. Drag and drop parts to/from...
