If you just want to know exactly how long you worked with a particular file, every time you check out any repository item, it gets a date and time stamp. Before working on a customer’s project, you could check it in, then open it, and it will be given the current time/date stamp. Then when you save it, each version when “Show Version History” is checked will get another time/date stamp.

The other option is to look in C:\Documents and Settings\<yourwindowslogin>\Application Data\Alibre Design. There is a file named “Alibre.log” that tracks when you open and close Alibre, and some other stuff. They accumulate, but Alibre.log is always the latest one.

Does anybody out in Alibre land know if it is possible
to change multiple dimensions in a drawing all at
once. I have 24 hole locations that I would like to
make the tolerance on basic. However, I have other
dims on the drawing that do not need to be basic. It
is very time consuming to change the properties of
each dimension that needs to be changed.

Pdf is really good most of pc has the reader installed, easy to use and
print for people without any PC knowledge, I use PowerPDF, and is good i
have no complains in most of the drawings and documents that I have sent
before, but lately I been using the free DWF Writer from AutoDesk, neat
application and works like a printer driver just print from any application,
the viewer is lightweight and I been using it for documents also is very
good.

But if the question is if PDF should be integrated in Alibre?, I will say
yes, I have seen plug ins that
allows you to add a 3D model inside a pdf and view it with the Acrobat
reader.

Hi Dave,

This part is a Trim Cup with a second pocket for a brush holder for painting. I am having a problem shelling the brush holder pocket. Ron Bowes, an Alibre Assistant, tells me that Alibre can not do this kind of shell yet. I faked the hole with an extrude cut. Actually the brush holder should have another step in the pocket about 30% of the way down. I just simplified the pocket. Shelling just a part of a surface seems like it would be a valuable enhancement. What do you think Dave? I will send you my file if you want to see the shell problem if further detail.

I think that would be a nice feature.
Have you put in a request for this?

What about having two "times" recorded,

-the time a file have been open

-and also the time the file has been active (like keyboard and mouse
activity) so that time recording stops when there has not been active
for some time (user set). This way the time spend drinking coffee
etc.
is not recorded.. like actually work time.

Would most likely be an idea to be able to delete this info so that
the time info is not available to others (like customer)if one choose
not to share it.

Tore

Sure, send it directly to me, and I’ll take a crack at it.

Sometimes I find ways to force things to work even if the software isn’t really capable of certain features. Sometimes not, but it’s worth a shot. Many times I can find a way to cheat that gets you where you want to go.

I have been using a great PDF writer called
PDFcreator. It is a free download and it allows the
user to save it as PDF, JPG, TIFF, PCX, Etc. It gives
you save options when printing and has a really nice
user interface. I have never had a problem with it
not printing things correctly.

I have been using a great PDF writer called
PDFcreator. It is a free download and it allows the
user to save it as PDF, JPG, TIFF, PCX, Etc. It gives
you save options when printing and has a really nice
user interface. I have never had a problem with it
not printing things correctly.

FW: [Alibre Design] slots

Does someone have a quick and easy way to make a sketch of a slot
(for a part) that is constrained, that can easily be moved,
lengthened, widened at a later time without distorting? Making the
original slot is no problem but if I have to change its dimensions at
a later date or move it, there always seems to be a problem.

Thanks,

Ken
